National dress (Kameez Shalwar, Kurta)

National dress (Kameez Shalwar, Kurta)

  • In Pakistan, the salwar kameez is the national dress and is worn by both men and women. It is a symbol of national identity and pride and is often worn on national holidays and special occasions. The Pakistani salwar kameez is known for its elegant and sophisticated designs, featuring bold prints and luxurious fabrics.
  • The kurta is traditionally made of cotton or silk. It is worn plain or with embroidered decoration and it can be loose or tight in the torso, typically falling either just above or somewhere below the knees of the wearer. The front and back of a traditional kurta are made of rectangular pieces, and its side-seams are left open at the bottom, up to varying lengths, to enable ease of movement.
  • A waistcoat (  colloquially called a weskit  ), or vest ( US and Canada ), is a sleeveless upper-body garment. It is usually worn over a Kameez Shalwar  and below a coat as a part of most men's formal wear.
